Honeymoon at Elounda

There are specific occasions during a couple's life together that when remembered, should be accompanied with emotions brimming with joy, exuberance and nostalgia; the first kiss, the first (unofficial) anniversary, the first trip, the wedding, the honeymoon, the birth of a child. Most of these moments can be relived again and again and they can be more exhilarating than the first time. A few of them though, are supposed to be a once in a lifetime experience.


Having in mind this exact concept, we decided as a celebration for our wedding, to visit Elounda at Crete for our honeymoon. Elounda is small town of impeccable natural beauty, situated on the northeastern part of the island, gaining great touristic attention over the last decades because of its ideal mix of wonderful seashores, turquoise waters, luxurious hotel resorts and many many things to enjoy all day long.

After doing our research for special places to visit within the prefecture of Lasithi where Elounda belongs to, we decided to plan an excursion to Limni Voulismeni, where the myth says that Goddess Athena was bathing, and admired the amazing, panoramic view from the park above the lake drinking local Cretan wine.

The unique city of Ierapetra, which comprises the southernmost place of Europe, was another destination that made it to our daily plans around the town of Elounda. Instead of the deep ancient history of Ierapetra, this small city is a great place for long walks in the tiny cobbled alleys,holding hands, with its many bars and cafes peppered all around. We also tried the Greek local spirit “raki” (or tsikoudia) and we were dazzled, literally and metaphorically!

However, as we all know, when you organise your very own honeymoon, the basic idea is to spend as much time as possible with your partner. Thus, after doing our homework regarding the right place to stay, we agreed that Elounda Gulf Villas & Suites was the one that could offer us a dreamy holiday concept at the dawn of our common future.All the newlyweds will adore the sea view pool villas and sumptuous suites, as you can relax in the knowledge that everything is catered for you while you are relishing a private meal prepared on the villa’s terrace by your own personal chef. We called for in-room breakfast every single day, and the only decision we had to make was whether to relax at our private pool and jacuzzi, or to enjoy some more intimate moments at the hotel's private beach.

After all, the honeymoon is all about celebrating your marriage in intimacy and seclusion.
